Choosing accredited IDVA training online
Online IDVA training lets practitioners train without travelling, and it can fit around the demands of frontline casework. Quality varies widely between courses, so it helps to know what to look for before you book a place.
Accreditation
An accredited course is assessed against criteria set by an awarding body, and it leads to a qualification that employers recognise. Our programme leads to the OCN London Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Abuse: Prevention and Early Intervention, and the Diploma is available as an enhancement. Learners complete six accredited units worth 36 credits in total, including the IDVA unit and the ISVA unit.
Real-time teaching
Some online courses are made up of recorded videos, while others are taught by trainers in real time. IDVA and ISVA practice depends on relationships, and real-time teaching gives learners space for discussion, case study work and challenge. We teach our training online in real time, three days a month from 10am to 4.30pm, across 21 days from November to May.
Assessment and support
Ask how the course is assessed, how feedback is given, and what support is available if you fall behind. Our learners build a portfolio of written work against the OCN London criteria, with feedback through our learning platform and tutorials when they need them.
Content
Look for content that covers risk, multi-agency working and the needs of survivors from racialised and marginalised communities. Our programme opens with a Foundations block on anti-racism and intersectionality, and teaches the Intersectional Risk Tracker Tool (IRTT) across every block.
Cost
Our standard rate is £2,400 per learner, with discounts available, and organisations can book a closed cohort online, in-room or hybrid.
