For young women and girls aged 14 to 25
An introduction to Black feminist theory and praxis for young Black and Brown women and girls, connecting them with the writers and thinkers whose work inspires us, and believing together in the power of possibility and the power of sisterhood.
About A Brown Girls Guide to Feminism
Each workshop introduces the tenets of Black feminism in a way that validates who young women and girls already are, and connects the theory to their everyday lives, so that feminism feels like something that belongs to them and something they can put into practice.

Black feminist thinkers who inspire us
We introduce young women and girls to the writers and thinkers whose ideas have shaped how we understand power, identity and freedom, and whose work continues to shape ours.
Writer, teacher and cultural critic whose work on love, education and feminism made Black feminist thought accessible far beyond the academy.
Poet and essayist who wrote about difference, anger and the erotic as sources of power, and who refused to separate any part of who she was.
Sociologist whose book Black Feminist Thought centred the knowledge of Black women and named the interlocking systems of power that shape their lives.
Political philosopher whose writing on captivity, abolition and resistance connects Black feminist politics to the struggle for freedom.
